Year One Sample Work:
During week 3 and 4 the year one classes listened to a poem about the 'Old lady who swallowed the sea'. They had a lot of fun with our 'Old Lady' puppet swallowing all of the objects and then retrieving them again.
As a class we then wrote our own version of the 'Old lady who swallowed...' enjoy!

Class 1K:There was an old lady who swallowed a fly,
Oh no, she didn't want to die. Oh dear, Oh my, why did I do such a horrible thing! There was an old grandpa who swallowed a snail, He did this when he was getting the mail, And he said it was as bad as swallowing a whale. Oh dear, Oh my, why did I do such a horrible thing! There once was a boy whose name was Troy, He got really cranky and broke his toy. Oh dear, Oh my, why did I do such a horrible thing! There was a big ginger horse who kicked off his rider, He later got tickled by a hairy big spider. Oh dear, Oh my, why did I do such a horrible thing! |
Class 1H:There was an old bloke who swallowed a chicken,
And then his lip kept on stickin. How odd is that! Oh me, Oh my, I might die. The hairy old woman swallowed a rat, Then she fell over on a prickly mat. How odd is that! Oh me, Oh my, I might die. There was an old grandpa who swallowed the sky, I don't know why he started to cry, Why did he lie when he started to fly. How odd is that! Oh me, Oh my, I might die.
